Kensho-Ryu Kenpo Karate is a dynamic martial art which combines the
traditional and modern disciplines of Kenpo and Shotokan Karate. The
name Kensho-Ryu is comprised of the first three letters of each of
the original arts, KENpo and SHOtokan, followed by the word Ryu which,
when translated, means "way" The art of Kenpo Karate is
believed to be the first true martial art, dating back to the year
520 AD.
Professor Nick Cerio, trained in the art of Kenpo Karate, had great
admiration for the ancient martial art of Shotokan Karate. In an effort
to preserve and pass on the traditional teachings of the past, he
combined the linear power of Shotokan with the speed, fluidity, and
overwhelming impact of Kenpo Karate to create Kensho-Ryu Kenpo Karate.
The result has become an extremely effective and popular technique
that combines form and functionality in a combination of self defense,
form excercise, and a raw, basic method of street self defense training.
Students of Kensho-Ryu Kenpo Karate learn not only martial arts techniques,
but also reality fighting skills. |
